WACO, Texas – California coach Lindsay Gottlieb can envision her team one day being in the position the Golden Bears face now.
Cal plays its second-round NCAA tournament game Monday night at perennial power Baylor. It is a battle of Bears for a return trip to the Sweet Sixteen for one of them.
Gottlieb says her players embrace the stage they’re on. She also believes her program is at a stage where eventually people will be asking the next team what it’s like to go play Cal.
Baylor, a two-time national champion under coach Kim Mulkey, is trying to get to the Sweet Sixteen for the sixth consecutive season. The Lady Bears (30-4) have their fourth consecutive 30-win season.
Cal (22-9) made an unexpected run to the Final Four last year.
